Team Building & Development including Intercultural Aspects

The Targets

For newly formed working groups the first task is TEAM BUILDING: to manage the transformation
.from a group of individuals to a high performance team. During the course participants learn more
.about themselves and others. Using self-administered inventories, they are able to identify their
.own style, as well as to categorise styles of other members, together with intrinsic and
.extrinsic motivating factors which influence team work and affect the member’s zeal in performing
.their various functions.

For existing teams who have been working together for some time, the task is team development:
.to establish a learning system, in order to maintain and improve efficiency and effectiveness
.of the team. This includes methods, instruments and rules for problem solving and resolving of
.conflict situations. The participants are involved in formulating vision-mission statements,
.in clarification and negotiation of functions, identification of helping and hindering factors
.and in action planning to strengthen and motivate teamwork.

Understanding cultural differences and knowing how to deal with them has become crucial
.for project management. Although management science originates mainly from Anglo-Saxon cultures;
.it has been largely influenced by various other parts of the world. Taking these theories and concepts
.from one culture to the other requires adjustment.
