The Targets
The programme will provide concepts, knowledge and skills on how to make the management of state and private veterinary services more efficient and effective, with special emphasis on how to initiate implementation of certification of organisations along the i.e. ISO 9000 and ISO 25 series.
The Results
On completion of the programme participants will be able to:
Identify and remove bottlenecks in their organisations for greater effectiveness, efficiency '
and client orientation
Carry out strategic planning with the relevant tools/techniques
Introduce Change Management in their organisation
Maintain TQM in their organisation and their services and
Implement the first relevant steps to apply the ISO 9000 and 25 series in their organisation
The Training Concept
The focus of this training workshop lies in the transfer of management skills with a strong emphasis on action learning. This workshop will be conducted in small working groups, in-house course or at location of your own convenience not exceeding 15 participants, over a period of 3 – 5 days (depending on your specific needs).
The Contents
Clarification and definition of key terms:
Service quality criteria (branch, thematic or regional specific)
Service performance (efficiency/deficiency) indicators
Factors affecting veterinary services management in regards to regulatory tasks and trade
ISO 9000 and ISO 25 series
Tools / Instruments and techniques for best management practices to run
veterinary organisations more efficiently and effectively
(based on the EFQM Model)
Organisational Self Analysis
Team building and team management
Mediation and negotiation technique based on the Harvard concept
Preventing and handling of stress, de-motivators and conflicts in teams and organisations
Leadership instruments
Management Information System (MIS) and its role and function
in TQM and ISO implementation:
Design principles for an efficient and effective MIS
Knowledge management principles in organisations/institutions
RRA and PRA as data acquisition tools
Quantitative and qualitative data acquisition and analysis, tools and techniques
Cost analysis (various methods incl. budgeting, basic accounting, etc.)
Steps in adoption of quality evaluation systems (aim: ‘International Veterinary
Certificate’) based upon the ISO 9000 (for veterinary services) series standards and processes
and on the ISO 25 (for laboratories)
Strategic marketing of veterinary and livestock services
